It was the beginning of October when I received the call from daycare that her eyes had swollen almost shut when given a bottle of "regular" milk based formula. My heart sank as I knew my little lady would have to deal with some food allergies. Already having a 3 year old with milk and egg allergies and a hubby with peanut allergies I was used to making changes- i was just hoping it would be something easy- and not to life changing.
At the end of October we had the skin test for the great 8 food allergies done and it came back with a reaction to milk, eggs and wheat. Blood tests followed and we were waiting for the results when her brother tested for the eight and nothing showed positive- he was allergy free. Not the case for my 11 month old she was positive to wheat, milk and eggs.
To say I was overwhelmed would be an understatement. While the world was opening up to my son I was feeling it cave in around me at trying to cook without yet another necessity. In the time that's passed I've learned the lingo of lables and what to look for. I've taken control of her babyfood and really made progress but now finger and table food are taking over and it's a different story
