So on Monday we had the appt. with Dr Armogedia. It was just a checking to see how things were going. I had mom come with me which was SO nice- she kept my lady entertained so could talk with the dr and she also had some good questions.
Well she said that I need to keep being psycho mom and use all seperate things for her. We also are going to get her tested for lentils- which is in the legumes closely related to peas then peanuts and soy. AHHHHHH. At first I didn't think much of it but today we gave her the last of her Schanz pasta and John saw the last ingrediant was pea protein. Her cheeks got all red when eating it tonight- nothing terrible but still noticable. So I googled and that was not good cause I saw how it is highly linked to Peanut allergies- which just makes me knot up inside. And it seemed like most cases got worse until age 3- like they keep adding different legumes they can't eat. I just don't know what to do. I think I'm going to ask for more legume testing than just lentils- they also made points about how the heating of the beans makes the reaction worse so it might not test if it has not been heated- why can't anything be simple. I know we haven't gotten a confirmation yet but I'm ready for it. argh

OOOPS!
So two weeks ago I made a "safe"dinner very quick- I was alone with the kids. It had nothing that should have caused a reaction but at the end of the meal when I wiped her off I noticed her face was turning red- everywhere the food had touched. Then she got white spots on top- not cool. I gave her benadryl right away and it didn't seem to get any worse- but how scary.
All I can think of is there was residue on the pan or something on the spoon or an additional allergy. Not fun times. So now she has her own set of pans and spoons. But the whole thing is just scary. How do we eat without hurting her.
Now we have an appointment on Monday with the allergist we'll see how it goes and what is figured out.
I have discovered a good recipe for her- it's a sticky rice.
1 1/2 c. brown rice
4 cups liquid- I use equal parts apple juice and water
2 apples or half a butternut or acorn squash
1/4 c butter
Melt butter in crockpot, coat rice. Then add in everything else- and cook for 4-6 hours on low. I also sprink in a little brown sugar. It's pretty tasty she eats it just in clumps on her tray. I like it with milk and raisins. This is an adaptation of breakfast Risotto from Make it Fast Cook it Slow.

Getting Started
It was the beginning of October when I received the call from daycare that her eyes had swollen almost shut when given a bottle of "regular" milk based formula. My heart sank as I knew my little lady would have to deal with some food allergies. Already having a 3 year old with milk and egg allergies and a hubby with peanut allergies I was used to making changes- i was just hoping it would be something easy- and not to life changing.
At the end of October we had the skin test for the great 8 food allergies done and it came back with a reaction to milk, eggs and wheat. Blood tests followed and we were waiting for the results when her brother tested for the eight and nothing showed positive- he was allergy free. Not the case for my 11 month old she was positive to wheat, milk and eggs.
To say I was overwhelmed would be an understatement. While the world was opening up to my son I was feeling it cave in around me at trying to cook without yet another necessity. In the time that's passed I've learned the lingo of lables and what to look for. I've taken control of her babyfood and really made progress but now finger and table food are taking over and it's a different story
